Anthony Davis’ time with the Los Angeles Lakers has been a mixed bag so far. While his first season was arguably a cinderella run where AD won his first-ever NBA title with the Purple and Gold, the last two seasons haven’t been the best for the big man.
Struggling through multiple injuries and missing many regular-season games Davis could never regain the form he had shown in the 2019-20 season. While he did show glimpses of what a fit Davis is capable of in the 2021 playoffs against the Suns, another injury derailed the Lakers’ playoff campaign that season.
Last season was tougher for the 29-year-old. While the team hoped that a move for Russell Westbrook would reduce the pressure on AD and Bron, in reality, the trio never really gelled. AD meanwhile continued to be injury-prone putting up disappointing numbers throughout the season. Given the season he had, many fans were quick to discredit the center and claimed that Davis wasn’t a star anymore.
Celtics legend Kevin Garnett certainly wasn’t the biggest fan of AD’s latest Lakers campaign. In a recent appearance at the KD Certified podcast, the ‘Big Ticket’ demanded that the 29-year-old should set his sights on one trophy next season, the MVP trophy.
